#ANIMAL KINGDOM (29) The Last Hour

The doctor injected poison in his veins,
He laid quietly on the floor of his cage,
His only reaction-bowed head, three times,
And saluted-as he was trained in past days.
He was the beloved monkey of the zoo,
His cage was place of attraction for all,
In past, he used to dance,jump,did acting,
To entertain children,he played with a ball.
But everything stopped, when he became mad,
His activity was-walking in cage,that was locked.
From the rear wall, to the front bars, non-stop,
Raising his hand,saluting,he walked,and walked.
Day and night,he walked, and often denied food,
The zoo- doctor checked-some serious infection,
That became un-curable-a danger to other's life,
Other creatures were shifted from that section.
Doctor injected, and told, "---within an hour",
He did not stop the walking, inside his cage ,
Touching the bars,looking at horizon -walked,
Pretended to salute,his right hand well raised.
Finally,he fell down-eyes open-seeing in space,
He was dead-walked to infinity-crossing the rods,
Dreaming-mountains,forests, fruits,rivers,echos,
Life- in the lap of mother nature,above all odds.
His hand still saluted,"My lord,thank you for all,
Thanks, you caught me;behind the bars,you sent,
Thank you for prison,for making me a showpiece,
If I get next life,again thanks, for same treatment."
