ANIMAL KINGDOM (31)Save Wildlife

He has killed his fifth prey-point blank,
Dead bodies are just laying at his feet,
With deep sigh,his vigil eyes turn around,
All alone -nobody to check,none to greet.

He is hunter, such entry in forest is crime,
Hunting animals is his business,his hobby,
Animal lives pay, for his means of living,
Innocent killing,is business of powerful lobby.

The deer,his female,three siblings lay dead,
Near the pool of blood,he stands with pride,
What foolish  deers proved to be-he thinks,
One killed,others calmly stand by the side!

The parents do not run,to save their children,
All what they do,is to stand, calmly to look at-
With futile hope to see their children breathe,
And for not running away, easy death  they get.

The fifth,an innocent one,touches the killer gun,
Tries to jump, lick the hunter with little tongue,
 Blinking eyes,seeing rainbow colours, all around,
Shaking ears,listen to the song,mother nature sung.

The new born just try to know meaning of life,
Bullet teach him,death is the truth-above all lies,
Dancing colours,singing breeze,his mother's lap,
All vanishes,before the first light,kisses his eyes.

Dawn is slowly knocking at the door of darkness,
There will be no any proof of dead bodies-all five,
 Prey will disappear, nature reveal  beauty of forest,
By roadside,a signboard will flash-"Save Wildlife".

The Civilized Animal

The jackal created revolution among animals,

He told them,"Poor creatures,you are wild, 
I have seen men in cities- advanced,smart,
Try to follow human beings, like a good child."

"You primitive,cave-dwelling,rustic animals-
Learn manners, etiquettes, and way of talking,
Stop barking,shouting,roaring-without sense,
Stop aimless jumping,learn stylish walking."

He showered pictures of dreamland-the cities,
The sky-scrappers,the jet-age life,the comforts,
Everything neat and clean,all shining bright,
In praise of cities,the jackal spent all words.

In that dense forest,he dreamed of a heaven-
'-No forest-but this is a modern,glittering city,
 Hotels,pubs,bars,club-houses, and in the dream-
Mr.Jackal is dancing with lioness,playing kitty.'  

Animals listened to him,but paid no attention,
Jackal cried-why these fools don't understand?
Why not perish this ugly forest,transform city-
Why not come-to work together, hand in hand?

Jackal decided to go alone-'Problem is the forest',
In one dark night,he went inside dense forest,
He tried to lit fire,to turn the jungle into ashes,
Suddenly,a lion roared and jumped on his chest.  

Jackal said," My lord! Most humbly,respectfully--"
Lion roared,"You rascal,--I know your scheme,
You are burning our forest,cutting our life-line,
 Killing the essence of nature,for your dream."

"I will insert all 'manners,courtesy,etiquette,polish,
All -thank you,beg you,please,and -so kind of you',
All modern flattery that you have learnt in the city, 
Let me insert all in your stomach, all,that you knew.  

'No mention'- were the last words that jackal said,
Forest breeze washed so-called vision-clever and wise,
Forest was luckily saved, in the lap of mother nature,
Jackal's soul went to heavenly abode- modern paradise.

 ANIMAL KINGDOM (12) Who  Is This HE ?

Animals were filled with grief and sorrow,
They all were weeping and crying,
To show their love to departed king,
In their own way,they were trying.

The old lion-king had passed-away,
Condolence meeting started in the forest,
Clever jackal was most favorite to king,
In king's lobby,he was nearest-the best.

Jackal wept, and wept, and told the mass ,
How dutiful and faithful he was,
How he tried to give-up his life,
How he was devoted to lion's cause.

Jackal's wife was among the crowd,
Full of  emotions,she was very sad,
For her,her husband was so nice,
Who worshiped the dead,like his dad.

After the meeting,jackal came home,
Wife, praised for his loyalty to the king,
"All courtiers loved and praised the soul,
But you were the foremost in the ring".

"Our lion- king was the great ruler,
All animals were weeping for him,
He will always shine as bright star,
His fame and glory will never be dim."

Jackal paid no attention to her,
He was thinking about the next king-
'-Who would be the next king,
How he will enter his inner-wing.'

'How to manage with all efforts,
How to help the NEW;:hunting animals,
How to praise, every morn and evening,
And flatter new lioness, at intervals.

Kings die but their tail remains,
Jackals jump from one to next,
Their hanging tail is way to success,
Let the dead king, lie in rest.

His wife was talking, and talking non-stop-
"The late king ruled from north to south,
He was noble, he was gentle,he was kind--"
Jackal put his palm on the wife's mouth.

Flash of shrewd smile came on jackal's face,
Then turned innocent,he said,bent on knee,
"--He--he--he--you are reciting my dear,
I don't know, who is this damn HE."

ANIMAL KINGDOM (4)The Journey

He was sad,was laying alone,
In the dark,in dense forest,
All of them had gone away,
Advising him to take the rest.

He was an old, sick elephant,
Gazing with half-open eyes,
Dark shadows,all around him,
Floating far and near-sink and rise.

Members of his herd had departed,
Paying him great respect and regard,
He was the leader of their group,
His leadership was firm and hard.

He was the proud winner in life,
Who was defeated only by age,
His life-span was the golden book,
And now was the last, dark page.

He closed his eyes, and thought,
''Why I am now worshiped by all,
Why they shower such sympathy on me,
Why my image has become so tall?'

'No wild animal comes near me,
This area has become restricted zone,
They see me, and turn their eyes,
As if,I am an inert tree,rock,or stone.'

The elephant tried to raise his trunk,
But was not able to lift the same,
He remembered those sunny days,
When shower bath was his regular game.

He tried to see in darkness,but in vain,
No monkey,no deer, was there to play,
No cuckoo was jumping on his back,
No baby-elephant was laying in mud and clay.

A few days ago,he had met with a lion,
Who was called the great forest king,
In past,he  had wrapped the lion in his trunk,
And had thrown him away after a swing.

Now, the lion looked at him with pity,
He did not roar,nor showed the sharp nail,
-Calmly, moved around with sympathy,
And touched the forehead with his tail.

His family gave him a cold response,
His near and dear had turned their eyes,
Yet he was decorated with great honor-
'Most respected senior,old, and wise.'

His enemies had become neutral to him,
His friends kept a cautious distance,
He was alone with his huge heavy body,
loneliness was his surrounding fence.

With all efforts and attempt,he stood up,
Trembling and shaking,he walked ahead,
Towards an unknown mysterious valley,
As his fore-father had once said.

Wild elephants went there for last journey,
For ever,to disappear from sight,
Between high mountains that valley was,
Without echo,sound ,life and light.

It was a myth spread among elephants-
If they ignore the ancestral call, in the last,
The decaying heap of ivory shatters,
And the valley, itself reaches them very fast.


Leaving behind the empty frame of glory,
The old wild- elephant slowly vanished in dark,
A new portrait, painted with honor and regard,
Was waiting for  nature- frame, in elephant-park.

There was a lion-king,

Who lived in the forest,

Among all  animals-, he thought,

He was better than the best.

Once, a hunter  came to his empire,

With alert mind,and loaded gun,

Wandering was  the hobby for him,

And  hunting  was his fun.

It  was  just  by-chance,

A sudden turn , they took,

Hunter with the pointed gun,

And  lion  with  the furious look.

To shoot the lion in one shot ,

The hunter aimed at his head,

The lion freezed  with fear-

One bullet-and he was dead.

O- GOD! but there was none,

Only a shadow  took the shape,

And  whispered  in his ears,

In  crisis; how to escape.

The  lion took a quick a U-turn,

With  firm steps  moved backwards,

Head bent down between legs-

Following the shadow’s  words.

The hunter  thrilled and shook,

His body filled with sweat,

With back-steps the lion was coming,

A firm and fair retreat.

The hunter cried with terror,

“I can shoot the lion without fail,

But where is the head to target?

Only there is the dancing tail”.

The lion moved firmly backwards,

His target was one-and only one,

With full force,he jumped  on the hunter,

Who was  shaking his gun.

The  lion ate him at- once,

Hunter was his gifted  prize,

-‘Hidden head and dancing tail’

The shadow’s idea was very nice.

The same shadow appeared again,

And said,”This lesson you  should learn,                                                               

I am POLITICIANS,I teach you,
